Online games can bring people together across borders, identities, and backgrounds. Players collaborate, solve problems, and form communities that matter. But the same spaces can be exploited by bad actors and extremists seeking to spread harm, manipulate trust, and divide communities.

Our mission is to shine a light on antisemitism in gaming. Where it takes root, other forms of hate follow. Online games are no exception. What we found is that the tools needed to fight one form of hate can also help make digital communities healthier for everyone.

We develop research, practical tools, and programs with and for the studios, platforms, and community leaders shaping the environments where millions of players spend their time.

We are less interested in the next game than in the next generation.

What We Do

Microgrants

We fund creators, indie developers, nonprofits, and community-led projects using games and play to make gaming a place where people are not targeted for who they are. Our microgrants support work that counters antisemitic and hateful content, builds media literacy against radicalizing narratives, and widens access and connection for the players most often pushed out.

Development. Leadership. Community. (DLC)

Shine A Light Gaming is the founding partner of the DLC Leadership training, an evidence-based certification program for the moderators, community managers, and guild leaders who hold the front line of trust and safety in gaming. DLC represents the three pillars of the field, Development, Leadership, Community and includes a dedicated module on antisemitism, equipping participants to recognize it in the spaces they run, respond before it sets the culture, and hold a standard their communities can see.

Research & Insights

We work with leading researchers to understand how identity-based hate operates in gaming and publish what we learn to help move the field forward. Our insights give studios, platforms, moderators, and funders something better than instinct to act on.

Combatting Antisemitism

Antisemitism moves through gaming in coded language, memes, and harassment that standard moderation misses. We name it directly, train community leaders to recognize and address it, and work across the ecosystem to make sure an unchecked server doesn't become a recruiting ground.

FIND YOUR ROLE IN THE WORK

For Studios & Platforms

The people managing your communities are doing some of the most important work in gaming. Healthier communities retain players, reduce moderation costs, and protect your reputation. We help you train the people responsible for that, support them with evidence-based tools, and build sustainable best practices.

For Funders

Gaming is where the next generation is forming its identity. The work of making those spaces safe from antisemitism and hate requires sustained investment, not just attention. If that's a philanthropic priority for you, we want to talk.

For Community Leaders

You keep communities from falling apart. Often that means being the first person to see antisemitism, harassment, and identity-based hate up close. DLC Leadership was built to give you the training and credentials that match what you're actually dealing with.
