Shine A Light Gaming is a community and partner-powered initiative working to make gaming more welcoming, inclusive, and human for everyone. Shine A Light Gaming (SALG) grew out of the 2021 Shine A Light Initiative to combat modern-day antisemitism in the United States, with the understanding that prejudice against one group rarely stops there, and that confronting antisemitism strengthens inclusivity for all.

We believe real change happens when studios, streamers, orgs, and everyday players from all works of life work together. There are incredible organizations already doing vital work to tackle hate, harassment, and exclusion — but no single mission can solve it all.

That’s why SALG brings together players, creators, educators, studios, and advocates into a shared conversation. By uniting efforts across communities and causes, we’re taking a collective shot at making the entire gaming ecosystem safer and more equitable for everyone. 🙌

Almost half of young players feel like they have to hide who they are just to log on. This isn’t just about broken chat filters or bad behavior. It’s about real people being pushed out of the spaces they love.

Games are supposed to be about joy, creativity, and connection. Not fear, silence, or exclusion.

When we shine a light on the problem, we make space for something better — communities where players feel safe, seen, and free to be themselves. Inclusive gaming doesn’t just benefit a few. It makes the whole ecosystem stronger, more innovative, and a lot more fun for everyone.
